When you want more extensive help than your Private Lawyer can provide or if you simply prefer an office consultation, you may request the services of a Referral Lawyer. The Legal Sense^® network includes thousands of Referral Lawyers throughout Canada who meet all the criteria for the practice of law in their province.

If you wish to consult a local lawyer, call the Customer Service Centre for help in finding the right lawyer. The Customer Service Centre can provide you with the names of Referral Lawyers who can handle your matter and are located near your home or workplace.

Referral Lawyers can provide, among other services, office work, investigation, research, drafting, court appearances, trial work and appeals. They will review your legal matters for an initial half-hour at no charge. Beyond the initial 1/2 hour consultation, they will charge hourly consultation rates that are a full 25% lower than their customary rates. The Referral Lawyer’s fee, together with any costs and expenses, must be paid in full by you. Referral Lawyers provide Basic Personal Wills, and there is no charge by Referral Lawyers for the Basic Personal Will service.

If a Referral Lawyer declines to accept your legal matter – because he or she determines that it is outside the area of his or her regular practice, or because your interests may be better served by seeking legal counsel elsewhere – you may call the Customer Service Centre for another referral.
